In Other Words — He's Dropping Out?

The Republican candidate for president is refusing to agree to the terms and conditions of our election process. I assume this means he has decided to withdraw from the race to avoid the humiliation of a crushing defeat. That's what any self-respecting spoiled brat would do. If he won't opt out voluntarily, then he must be excluded from participation by election officials. That is standard treatment for people who refuse to agree up front to play by the rules. If you don't like the rules, don't play. If you think the system is rigged, don't play. If all you can do is kvetch that it's not fair, go away!

As I write, Americans are registering to vote, maybe voting already, or making plans to vote. WE are going to do this by the book. Wherever we are, whatever our method, we are abiding by the laws of our locale. The Republican candidate for President of the United States of America -- a man who slithered into that office four years ago with the aid of foreign operatives, and who has been impeached for his unethical-verging-on-treasonous acts -- suggests that WE THE PEOPLE cannot be trusted. It's quite clear who cannot be trusted, and given that he is already denying the legitimacy of the upcoming election, I don't see why we should have to wait for the vote count to get rid of him. He is unfit for the office, unwilling to abide by the Constitution, and so derelict in his duty to protect our population that history may well call this time of death and financial ruin not a pandemic but a holocaust.

Trump was unqualified and unfit to be President from the beginning (good work, GOP). Now, by failing to agree to honor the voting process and accept the results, he has disqualified himself from running for re-election. So, is he quitting, or are we blocking him from the race and disqualifying him from winning? I suggest that Republican leaders get a very clear statement from their candidate, and make him repeat it daily, about how he does trust the vote, will accept the results, and will leave office if voted out. It's that, or boot him off the ticket and make him resign from office immediately.

Friendly readers (and unfriendly ones as well), you and I can't even use this website without agreeing to terms and conditions. Why is a man who tells us every day that he won't uphold and honor the voting process allowed to compete in our elections? Someone, or all of us, need to tell that poser in the White House: That's not how it works, dude. Check "Agree" already, or get off the site.
