How to Format Your Prose Manuscript

DO
  • Use extra line spacing (at least 1.5)
  • Use a common 12 pt. font
  • Use paragraph indents
  • Indicate [in brackets] subject and placement of any illustrations you plan to include
  • Make sure there is a header or footer containing:
    book title
    author last name
    page number

DON'T
  • Skip lines between paragraphs
  • Attempt to create a book layout with multiple fonts or font sizes
  • Include art/photos in your manuscript file or send graphics files
  • Send attachments before they are requested

SUMMARY

Do not send a book-style layout. We want to read what you wrote. If it is not right for Amador, no amount of fancy formatting will save you.
